Because that’s what we were called. It’s time to take that label back and own it. I’m proud to be a Sped Kid! Those were hard times, and looking back all these years later, the kids who climbed on to that short bus and went off to school everyday despite our many challenges, and believe me there were a lot, those kids were pretty great. This show is to celebrate Sped Kids everywhere and acknowledge our resilience and unflagging courage. I am proud of our shared story. 

This is the story I have always needed to tell. In 1984, I began to lose my eyesight and I became a Special Ed student. The friendships I made at that time and lessons I learned stuck with me for my entire life.

The overarching themes of the story are universal; love, humor, and enduring friendships.  There’s also a lot of great music!
